NILAI 3, Saturday, March 12, 2005

A great weekend it was.  On Saturday I went to Nilai with Helmi, Jamal and Zack, all three were with spouse.  It was my first time to Nilai 3.  Sitah been there few times, Zack's wife too.  Helmi's partner was very excited to gather stuff for the big day.

So we met up in Zack's house in Putrajaya.  We had a few drinks, tit bits and mingled. Took some photos before we headed on to Nilai.

Smile, you're on candid camera.

Two poses and a candid...Quite a mixed reaction...

As we looked for parking spot, it was just "wow", "oohh", "wheee".  Endless shops with endless stuff.  Loads of fabric, fake flowers, garden ornaments and accessories, home deco and some furniture.  Electrical stuff and car accessories are abundant too.  Getting there was not easy though.  The place is like an oasis in the middle of nowhere.  Actually it is in Nilai Industrial Area.  Many open space.

Quite a bargain.  A word of advice though.  Know what you are looking for.  Price, quality and availability.  You might end up buying loads of stuff that you can easily get in Mydin or Jalan TAR.  Worse, you could pay more. One thing for sure, the variety and choice is bewildering.  Although most shops with similar theme sell similar stuff, a persistent browser will end up with nice and unique items.  An experience worth a shot.  One visit and you'll either love it or ignore it.  Given the distance, I'll ignore it.  Perhaps I'll go there to bring friends and relatives from a galaxy far away.   Them who have heard so much about it and crave the first experience.

That evening, we had satay in Kajang.  Then on our way home we stopped in Putrajaya, Zack as our tour guide.  Had leftover satay on a bench in front of Palace of Justice.  Took some cool pictures, had a few good laughs and then called it a day.

Us having a picnic on the Palace of Justice compound.  Really nice place.

F1 Demo, Sunday March 12, 2005

Come Sunday I was all excited again.   It was F1 demo day.  Jalan Ampang and jalan P. Ramle was reportedly closed for the occasion.  So, in anticipation of a traffic jam, i left my car at Vista Angkasa, near Universiti LRT station and got to KLCC on the  Putra LRT. After some Sunday banking errands i headed out to the demo area.  Not many people yet.  Crews were getting ready for VIP lunch under white gazebos.  I whipped my Olympus out and to my horror it was dead.  It turns out that i forgot to insert the battery after charging it last night.  Cursing myself quietly i reasoned with myself.

"Should I stay and watch the show without taking any pictures?  Here?  On F1 demo day? Oh hell no.   Should I just go home and wait for the TV news?  Nu'uh.  "

So I headed back home on the LRT, tapau lunch and ate at home.  A few minutes of rest and I was out again.  This time I decided to drive all the way there.   Traffic jam? Bring it on!

Imagine my smile when I glided my may along Jalan Mahameru and Jalan Tun Razak.  All smooth and pleasant.  It was 2 pm and there is still no congestion.  I parked my car near my office which is on Jalan Yap Kwan Seng and walked to Jalan Ampang, the show area.  Just look at the picture below and more pictures in my yahoo photo album.
